Mattress Cleaning 101

Most people have never really thought about cleaning their mattress, it seems like a foreign concept to them.  But if you think about all that goes on in a bed, the sweat, the drool, the accidents, and other bodily fluids that a mattress is exposed to then it just makes sense to clean your mattress on a regular basis.

The good news is that cleaning your mattress is easy and can be done with items you may already have in your house or that are easily obtainable in most areas.

There are two ways to clean your mattress. One is a dry method using only Baking Soda and Essential Oils (which is optional). The other method is a wet method used for removing stains.

Dry Method

Mix 1 or 2 cups of Baking Soda with 5 or so drops of your favorite smelling CTPG Essential Oil (found here) then sprinkle on your mattress. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes and vacuum off with an upholstery attachment. It’s that easy!

Wet Method (for stains)

Mix 8 oz, or 1 cup, of Hydrogen Peroxide with 3 Tablespoons of Baking Soda and 1 drop of Dish Soap in to a spray bottle. Immediately spray on the stain, this mixture does not store well it needs to be used immediately. As it dries the stain is lifted.
