Easy Homemade Vapor Rub

Over the counter vapor rubs often use petroleum or other synthetic ingredients which may actually do more harm to you in the long run then the temporary relief you will get from using it is worth. Try this all natural Homemade version instead. It will give you the relief you need and let you breathe without all the harmful ingredients in the OTC stuff.

Homemade Vapor Rub

This recipe is great for Colds, Seasonal Allergies or any time you feel stuffed up.

What you’ll need:

  • 20 drops eucalyptus essential oil (Found Here)
  • 20 drops peppermint essential oil (Found Here)
  • 1/2 cup Organic Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil (don’t get the cheap stuff, it may not be real Olive Oil)
  • 1/4 cup Bees Wax
  • Glass Container
  • Saucepan
  • Storage container(s) with airtight lid(s)

Instructions:

Fill a saucepan with about an inch or two water and heat over medium to low heat.

Put your glass container in the saucepan without allowing the water to enter in to the container and then melt the Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, and Bees Wax together.

Stir until well combined.

Remove the glass container from the saucepan carefully and stir in the essential oils while the mixture is still warm.

Pour the mixture into your Storage Container(s) and allow it cool prior to sealing with the lid(s).

Notes:

If you have sensitive skin you may want to try smaller amounts of the essential oils first. It won’t give off as much of the vapor and be a little less effective but may not irritate your skin. Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients listed.
