Looking for an easy, natural way to get your feet ready for summer? After a long winter of neglecting your feet and hiding them under warm socks it’s time to get them ready to show off! This is an easy recipe that you can make in minutes and leaves your feet feeling great.
1 part Fractionated Coconut Oil
1 part Organic Shea Butter
Peppermint Oil (Preferably Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade – Found Here)
Glass Mixing Bowl
Hand Mixer with Whisk
Add 1 part Fractionated Coconut Oil and 1 part Organic Shea Butter in Glass Mixing Bowl.
Melt the Coconut Oil and Shea Butter together by placing the Glass Mixing Bowl in Boiling Water. You can microwave the mixture but there are some that claim that microwaving alters the molecules of whatever you are heating and if not safe for you. Your call, but the more natural way is to melt the mixture over boiling water.
Add a few drops of Certified Therapeutic Grade Peppermint Oil(Found Here) and stir thoroughly. The amount of Peppermint Oil you add is to your taste. Too much could cause skin sensitivity, too little will not smell as nice or be as invigorating. 3 to 5 drops is about right per cup of the coconut oil/shea butter mixture is about right.
Place the mixture in the refrigerator until it solidifies. Make sure it does not freeze, some people like their Fridge more cold than others.
After the mixture is solidified, whip the mixture with the whisk until it’s nice and creamy.
Store your creation in an air tight container in a cool and dry place.
You can use different essential oils to your mixture. Or blend different essential oils to get a fragrance you desire. Adding Wild Orange with Peppermint is nice, or adding a drop or two of Melaleuca (Tea Tree Oil) will help cleanse and rejuvenate your feet.
Massage a generous amount of your lotion in to your feet at night before bedtime. Pay particular attention to your heels and in between your toes or anywhere your feet are rough and dry.
Cover your feet with socks overnight. This is important because the coconut oil in your lotion takes time to soak in to your skin. Otherwise your lotion will get all over your sheets.
Note: You can use this lotion all over your body, just keep in mind that coconut oil does take time to soak in to your skin and so you will have a glossy oily look wherever you decide to use it until it soaks in completely. Avoid using if you are allergic or sensitive to any of the ingredients in this lotion.
