DIY Shower Bomb

Every Spring and Fall I get seasonal allergies. A lot of Winters I get a cold. Both seasonal allergies and colds stuff my sinuses and make it hard to breathe, give me headaches, and plain just make me feel miserable. Sound familiar? I’ll bet it does. And there are great Essential Oils out there that help with all these issues. If you combine these oils with a nice warm steamy shower then it makes the oils that much more effective.

This DIY Shower Bomb recipe is so easy to make, takes only a few minutes, and is great to use any day of the year. It only has three ingredients and is very economical.

DIY Shower Bomb

What you’ll need:

  • Your favorite smelling Essential Oils (Found Here)
  • Water
  • Baking Soda


Add 1 cup of Baking Soda into a bowl.

Then slowly add water (somewhere in between 1/4 cup to a 1/3 cup) until you have a thick paste. Do not use a lot of water, if you do, you can add in more baking soda to get that thick paste. Basically you just want enough water to hold the baking soda together in to a shape.

Now you will need some kind of mold to put this baking soda/water mixture in to to dry. Silicone molds work best but you can also use muffin tins with muffin liners. Just add the mixture in to the molds compressing down as much as possible.

Then just let the molds dry until all the moisture is out of them. At least overnight or maybe even for a few days depending on the humidity level where you live.

DIY Shower Bomb

To Use:

Add a few drops of Essential Oil to an individual shower bomb right before use. Spread the oil drops around the shower bomb, don’t put them all in the same place.

This is where you can get creative. Use peppermint oil to wake you up, lavender oil to relax you, Eucalyptus oil with peppermint to help clear your sinuses, or any citrus oil to uplift your mood. The choice is yours. Experiment with different combinations to find your favorite.

As you shower the water dissolves the shower bomb and integrates with the steam from your shower releasing the aroma. Breath in deeply to enjoy the benefits of this recipe.
